Thanks to your support, Monk Botanical Gardens has reached a 20-year milestone of cultivating almost 15 acres of nature spaces that delight, engage, educate and inspire more than 64,000 visitors annually – right here in the heart of north central Wisconsin.

Because of you, the Gardens has become one of Wausau’s most cherished outdoor destinations, a botanical treasure that offers nature-based activities year-round. Your previous support has helped to Plant The Seeds for our success… as a result, we’ve come to be known and loved as Wausau’s Happy Place!

Ways to Give

Donate online or mail your gift to us at 518 S 7th Ave, Wausau, WI 54401.

Your support today will help us accomplish the following goals and more in 2024:

  • Implement trail system improvements for increased accessibility.
  • Offer additional horticulture and environmental educator internship opportunities as career-based training for young adults.
  • Connect more visitors with plants, providing mental health and wellness opportunities, bringing families together, and celebrating the outdoors.

A commemorative gift offers a unique opportunity to honor the special people in your life and directly supports all aspects of the Gardens’ day-to-day operations. Visit our Memorial & Tributes page to learn more about the opportunities available to honor a loved one.

You can help us make outdoor education accessible to ALL children.

A donation today helps support our scholarship fund, allowing families to enroll their child in Sprouts Garden Preschool at less or no cost to them, because we believe every child deserves an opportunity to play and learn outside.

You can be a Gardens Champion all year long! This convenient, affordable and automatic monthly gift of your choosing helps secure our roots and makes a lasting impact on the Gardens community, every season.

Join The Root Society by becoming a monthly donor.  Our monthly donors are the heart and soul of our organization, whose sustaining gifts allow us to provide extraordinary experiences for all who come to the Gardens. You can join the Root Society today by choosing your own donation level, that will recur monthly.

Other Ways to Support the Gardens

Your planned gift, whether to the Visions of Growth Endowment Fund or to fund the general operations of the Gardens, ensures the long term support of this community treasure and will continue to bring beauty and educational opportunities for generations.

Click to learn more about Planned Giving options. To start a conversation, contact Linda Schill, Development Manager.

The Visions of Growth Endowment Fund accepts individual gifts and fund contributions of various types, invests those gifts and funds for long-term growth (through Nicolet Wealth Management in Wausau), and distributes income from those investments to support garden enhancements and internship development – all in alignment and in furtherance of Monk Botanical Gardens’ mission.

The beauty of an endowment fund is that it relies on a long-term investment strategy to sustain not just the Gardens’ spaces, but also the educational initiatives that make Monk Botanical Gardens an invaluable resource for our community. By investing in our future, you will help us continue to offer innovative programming, engage with schools, and provide a sanctuary for reflection, connection, and personal growth.

TOGETHER, we will cultivate a vibrant and blooming sanctuary, a place where nature’s wonders inspire, educate, and bring joy to all who walk through our gates.

If you would like to make a gift to the Visions of Growth Endowment Fund or start a conversation about planned giving to support the Gardens in a new and visionary way, please contact Linda Schill at 715-600-1166.

When you give through your local community foundation or a donor-advised fund managed by your investment firm, you realize an immediate tax benefit and the advantages of professional investment and grant-making services. Email our Development Manager, Linda, or click below to get started.
