Mertensia virginica is part of the Boraginaceae family. They are native to the North America and thrives in moist woodlands and river flood plains. The leaves emerge purple and turn green as the leaves unfurl. Grape cluster-like flower buds bloom into blue and purple bells. Watch the bells dance in the wind throughout the Wildflower Woods.
