The Shade and Hosta Garden is catching the attention of many visitors at the Gardens. One of those stunning plant varieties is ‘Bottle Rocket’ Ligularia, also known as Ragwort. This shade-tolerant plant has lily-pad-like leaves with striking yellow flowers. This variety is known for its “bottle rocket-like” flower spikes. Close relatives of ‘Bottle Rocket’ Ligularia have daisy-like flowers. If you see this perennial drooping, it may not be because it is thirsty, it just wilts in the intense sun. You can find companions of the Ligularia blooming around the Gardens including Beebalm, Snakeroot, Yarrow, Astilbe, Liatris, Shasta Daisy, Masterwort, Goatbeard, grasses, and Smooth Hydrangeas.
