Volunteer Junior Counselor Program

The Junior Counselor program is a volunteer program for individuals ages 12-17 who are interested in working with kids and enjoy spending time outdoors. Volunteers are an integral part of everything we do at the Gardens! New this year, pre-season training will be completed online.

Junior Counselors practice leadership skills by assisting Lead Counselors with a group of 12-18 campers each week. Campers range in age from 3-8 years old. As a volunteer, you will learn valuable leadership and job skills and have the opportunity to be part of a fun, hard working team.

In the summer of 2025, six Junior Counselors were selected to take part in a camp improvement project, made possible with funding from the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin. They chose to create a magical play village for the youngest campers and Sprouts students. Welcome to Sprouts City!

Winter Walk Meet Ups

Looking to get outside with your kids and spend some time with other families this winter? Come to the Gardens for a Winter Walk Meet Up every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 10 am beginning on 1/6/26.

Meet at the potager/ kitchen pavilion. This is a self-guided walk intended as a casual opportunity for families to connect and is not a formal program.  Dress for the weather and be prepared to walk in snow and/or slippery conditions. It may be difficult to push strollers, etc.

A Gardens volunteer may be present to help guide the group except in the case of inclement weather.

This program is for children from birth to five and their families. Free for all. Donations are encouraged to help with the cost of materials.

There will be no program on 3/31.
